Introduction To CBN
Cannabinol (CBN) is a mildly-psychoactive cannabinoid found only in trace amounts in cannabis. Whereas CBGA is the first cannabinoid phenotype that all other cannabinoids stem from, CBNA is one of the last in the downstream degradation pathway. Where most other cannabinoids are the result of natural synthesis or decarboxylation, CBN appears as the result of an oxidative process where THCA is exposed to heat and oxygen over time breaking down to CBNA. It is therefore often found in aging cannabis. There is no clinical evidence that THC breaks down naturally into CBN once THCA has become decarboxylated and forms delta-9 THC. CBN is formed by decarboxylation of CBNA, which naturally breaks down from THCA. However, a forced synthesis is possible in a laboratory setting, but not absolute. A more effective way of achieving a forced conversion is by utilizing CBD as a starting material.
CBN is the strongest cannabinoid identified for promoting sleep and is responsible for what people call the “couch-lock” effect from old Indica predominant strains. Cannabinol has also been shown to exhibit analgesic properties.
CBN preferentially binds to the endocannabinoid system's CB2 receptors as a partial agonist but exhibits very weak binding affinity to the CB1 receptors.

CBN DISTILLATE BROAD SPECTRUM OIL
This oil has been distilled in order to create a high potency oil. Whether achieved through distillation or winterization (dewaxing), this oil has the phospholipids (fats) removed and is the last step prior to being isolated into a pure crystalline molecule. A distillate is very light and translucent in color with a very muted scent and flavor profile. Most terpenes, waxes, and other minor constituents have been removed while the cannabinoid concentrations are increased. This product flows when heated but may solidify at room temperature due to its high CBN concentration. The difference between this oil and the pure distillate is that broad-spectrum distillate is made up of multiple active cannabinoids.
Great for formulation where fats interfere with homogenization. A very clean and low flavor profile that does not need to be masked making it ideal for vape products, topicals, and edibles where the based components need to be controlled. Works well for spiking cannabinoid concentrations in other concentrates to standardize product potencies.
